They were avid sailors and frequently traversed the Great South Bay with their monohull poignantly named “Wynnjim”. James and Winnie settled in East Islip, NY, and after several years of transience between Florida, New York, and California, returned to Islip. She married James Edward Kane, now deceased, in 1957 and went on to raise four boys: Chris, William (deceased), Robert, and Thomas. Luke’s Elementary and Aquinas High School in the Bronx, NY graduating in 1955, and later graduated from Suffolk Community College. She was raised by parents Anna and James Garvin who in the early 1930’s immigrated to the United States from Ireland, Counties Roscommon and Tyrone respectively.
